  • Coin Hopper
The coin hopper is where the coins are held in a slot machine. The hopper is a mechanical device that rotates coins into the casino tray when a player wants his credits/coins. Often hoppers are filled to overflowing by players, so they don't only run empty they sometime are overflowing.

  • Shortpay
Shortpay refers to a payout made by a slot machine, less than the amount indicated by the payout schedule. Occurs when the coin hopper becomes depleted during a payout and the remaining amount is paid to the player by a hand pay.

  • Hand Pay
Hand Pay is when the slot attendant or cage gives the player a cash payout, rather than the actual slot machine paying out from the coin hopper. A hand pay may be automatically requested by the slot machine if the total credits on the machine is greater than 800 coins.

  • Hopper Fill Slip
A hopper fill slip is a document used to record the replenishments of the coin in the coin hopper which are required as a result of payouts to players.

  • Weight Count
Weight count refers to the dollar amount of chips and tokens removed from a slot machine coin hopper and counted by the casino's hard count team through the use of a weigh scale.

  • Optimal Play
Optimal play is a payback percentage based on a gambler using the optimal strategy in a skill-based slot machine game.
Practice

Begin with selecting an online casino that offers at least $10 - $15 free money without deposit, or one that offers a purchase match of at least 100%. So you will gamble with the casino's money and start with at least some $10 - $50 credits.

Choose a slot machine and start testing it yourself by using the smallest possible bet on each spin, say 5 cents. Spin the slot machine repetitively at 5 cents for 100 times. Record the payout of each spin and highlight all the spins that pay off 10 times more than your original bet. Work out the math:

Key Level = 100 / the number of spins that pay off 10 times more than your original bet

Now you have out Key Level which is the number of spins required on the slot machine before you can expect a large payout.

Strategy

The best strategy for betting slot machines is the Key Level betting strategy. When you apply this strategy, start betting with 5 cents per spin until you have reached your Key Level spin. When you reach your Key Level spin without any 10 times or more pay-off, raise your bet to $1 per spin. The slot machine should pay off a 10 times or more win.

Reset your bet to 5 cents per spin again, if the slot machine hits a 10 times or more pay-off before you reach your Key Level.

You normally does not require to go the full number of spins to your Key Level before achieving a 10 times or more win. This is the moment you should position yourself to aim for an even larger win. Move your bet up to $5 per spin. This time you should hit a 10 times or more pay-off before you reach your Key Level again.

Final Tip

You must always set a realistic profit target when playing slot machines. When you have reached your target and fulfilled the wagering requirements, cash-in from the casino! Only return to the slot machine when you feel fresh. If you apply the strategy you have learned here, you will be able to consistently beat the slot machines!
